After 9/11, co-President Bush, co-President Dick Cheney and the others in their repulsive regime panicked. The first thing they did was destroy our liberties with the misnamed, really traitorous USA “PATRIOT” Act.
It actually stands for the “Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001.” The idiotic bureaucratic name alone should have led to its defeat.
The Act shredded what remained of our Fourth Amendment “right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures . . .”
As we’ve come to learn from the revelations of Edward Snowden and others, the government and its well-compensated and well-connected private contractors basically spy on everything we do. Supposedly it’s only the “metadata,” such as phone number records, but likely with computer memory dropping in price inexorably, everything is recorded somewhere.
To his credit, Sen. Rand Paul has been trying to stop the renewal of the USSR TRAITORS Act, including with a quasi-filibuster. He said, “This week, the Investigator General reported that the FBI has not cracked a single terrorist plot thanks to the invasive spying powers implanted under the PATRIOT Act. Let me reiterate that: even the most vocal defenders of the spying program have failed to identify a single thwarted plot.
The buffoonish New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie insisted, “I’m the only person in this national conversation at the moment who has used the Patriot Act, signed off on it and convicted terrorists because of it.” He was a federal prosecutor before taking up the ruination of the Garden State.
So, who’s right? The FBI or Christie? Can he give us details of what he did? Is it so secret if he tells us he’ll have to kill us?
Jeb Bush said of his brother’s abomination, “I do know, because I’ve checked with a lot of people inside and outside of government, that there’s no evidence, not a shred of evidence, of violations of civil liberties because of the Patriot Act.” So the government told Jeb the government didn’t violate our civil liberties! And whom did he talk to “outside of government” – former Bush regime officials?
Neocon kingpin William Kristol blasted on ABC News, “Rand Paul has now decided he wants to be a liberal Democrat—undercut necessary intelligence collection, weaken the police officers and our intelligence services.”
Huh. The top liberal democrat is President Obama. Tuesday der Fuehrer ordered, “This needs to get done.”
Presidential Press Secretary Josh Earnest said earnestly, “”Right now, I think what we’re seeing is a difference of opinion on the Republican side of the aisle. At some point, the political ambitions of individual members of the United States Senate are going to have to come second to the national security of the United States” – as in national socialist security.
