Russ Braley seems to give the ‘Cong name to all the Communist forces in Vietnam, an error not unknown in journalism. The North Vietnamese Army (NVA) were a force distinct from the Vietcong (the enemy indigenous to Saigon’s republic). Indeed, each fought under its own flag.

Vietnam veterans get cranky about such things.
