The last two years have given Americans an intense and confusing course in two subjects to which few paid much attention before: the dangers of vaccines and the corruption of science. As a public dissenter from the official “safe and effective” COVID vaccine propaganda, Judy Mikovits has become well-known to those looking for common sense amid the madness of lockdowns, masking, and vaccine mandates.
A featured speaker at meetings of vaccine skeptics even before COVID-19 appeared, Mikovits has worked to expose the pervasive corruption in scientific research and decision-making. This book is the third in her “Plague” series, after Plague: One Scientist’s Intrepid Search for the Truth about Human Retroviruses and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Autism, and Other Diseases (2014) and Plague of Corruption: Restoring Faith in the Promise of Science (2020). Kent Heckenlively has coauthored all three books, and the most recent one includes Francis Ruscetti as first author.
Both Mikovits and Ruscetti are PhD research scientists, and both have grievances against the medical research establishment. The former has suffered a smear campaign orchestrated by U.S. Chief Medical Advisor Anthony Fauci, who trashed her work on human infection by way of mouse viruses. Ruscetti discovered HTLV-1 (a retrovirus implicated in the causation of T-cell lymphoma) and interleukin-2 (an important cytokine or signaling molecule that modulates the immune response). He says his boss, Dr. Robert Gallo, head of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), tried to claim all the credit for the discovery and then made it impossible for Ruscetti to continue his research.
But the authors’ complaints in the book are of much graver import than the mistreatment they received at the hands of scheming egomaniacs in the medical bureaucracy. Their concern is that serious dangers to the public are being hidden by the very agencies that should be investigating them. These dangers include a shocking increase in autism among boys and in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), especially among women. What if vaccines are causing or activating some or all of the mysterious neurological, degenerative, and autoimmune disorders of our time?
The “dangerous question” Mikovits asks is, “If we are growing viruses in animal tissue, how do we know that other viruses in the animal tissue aren’t coming back in the vaccine, or pharmaceutical product, which is being developed?” She believes her honest pursuit of an answer to this query threatened the reputations of top scientists and the profits of major drug companies. Most scientists do not want to risk their careers by probing such matters, even though millions of lives are at stake.
Ruscetti and Mikovits published a study that found evidence of XMRV, a mouse retrovirus, in the blood of CFS patients. Another study by other researchers had similar findings. However, the NCI insisted that the patient cohort in the initial study should not have included anyone with abnormal thyroid function and a “medical or psychiatric condition which might be associated with fatigue.” Since nearly every patient with CFS has these comorbidities, the researchers were left with only a small pool of acceptable patients for their study, effectively nullifying their results, burying groundbreaking insight into the mystery of CFS.
Thus, Ruscetti and Mikovits believe Anthony Fauci and his fixers, Ian Lipkin and John Coffin, scuttled any further investigation into XMRV in humans. Wikipedia (a reliable source for what the regime wants us to believe) calls Mikovits’s claims “discredited,” and laboratories across the world continue to share immortalized cell lines contaminated with viruses.
This story should come as no surprise to those who have followed the revelations in Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s 2021 book, The Real Anthony Fauci, about Fauci’s covert funding for gain-of-function research, which appears to be bioweapon production in the guise of vaccine development. Kennedy describes how Fauci and his Pharma collaborators deliberately suppressed inexpensive, safe treatments such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin in order to justify the Emergency Use Authorization for their experimental, multi-billion-dollar vaccines. Ending Plague was published in partnership with Kennedy’s Children’s Health Defense Fund and builds upon Kennedy’s work.
Ending Plague also offers accounts of how Gallo and Fauci mismanaged the AIDS epidemic of the ’80s and ’90s. Gallo eventually came under scrutiny for scientific misconduct in 1992. Yet this proved to be no obstacle to his subsequent appointment as director of the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland, a post that he holds to this day, at the age of 85. The 80-year-old Fauci has run the NIAID since 1984 and continues to wield enormous power as the dispenser of billions of dollars of grant money—and now as America’s medical dictator amid a pestilence that appears to be of his own making.
Regarding the AIDS epidemic, Mikovits considers it likely that the use of chimpanzee tissue in the development of a polio vaccine in the 1950s caused the primate virus SIV (simian immunodeficiency virus) to infect over a million people, becoming recognized later in humans as HIV. It didn’t “jump” the species barrier; it was injected. Outbreaks coming directly from vaccines are old news, the authors have found. And that is not the only danger ignored by the medical establishment.
Mikovits points out that 8 percent of human DNA is of viral origin, presumably introduced by retroviruses over millennia of human evolution. This viral DNA is thought to be important in immune responses but may also recombine with the genetic material of new viral infections to generate new variants. Medical “experts” have ridiculed those who suggested that mRNA “vaccines” may alter our DNA, but Mikovits explains that retroviral reverse transcriptase does exactly that. She also tosses out a number of other bits of new research and well-informed speculation on viruses, vaccines, and immunology.
It is unfortunate that a book with so much important information is so poorly organized. The first 126 pages are “Frank’s Perspective,” and the next 154 pages are “Judy’s Perspective.” The two sections are like synoptic gospels, presenting much of the same material in slightly different ways, causing the reader to have to wade through the river of information twice. The same criticism could be made of book’s rehashing the accounts of HIV and XMRV from the two previous volumes. The last chapters of “Judy’s Perspective” are a particularly uneven jumble of disjointedness. Frequent grammatical errors grate on the reader’s nerves, and there are infelicitous phrases (“outspokenly dumbfounded”) that a good editor would have fixed. Much of the cute autobiographical material also could have been eliminated. An index would be helpful. It is easy to understand why one might rush a book to print when it deals with a topic of urgent significance, but in this case, the haste is too evident.
An interesting feature of both “Perspectives” is that these authors are not the MAGA-hatted Republicans that the media represent as typical of vaccine skeptics. Frank and Judy both gripe about “misogyny.” When a crooked character like Gallo steals the credit for a discovery, he’s misogynistic if he does it to a woman but merely unethical if he does it to a man. One senses that the authors view misogyny as the more damning charge.
Both authors are also sharply critical of Reagan’s budget cuts and the “decade of greed.” Ruscetti writes:
The legacy of medical misogyny and racism has a long history in our country, and these cuts made the situation even worse. Minority groups and people of different sexual orientation are generally those most damaged by the system. …
By now, word processors in every newsroom must have a macro for that phrase. Regardless of their politics, the authors are clearly sincere and intellectually honest, and Ruscetti’s cautious tone and strong credentials buttress Mikovits’s claims about her own research.
Mikovits believes that the COVID-19 plandemic has been the greatest crime against humanity:
… a planned mass murder to cover-up the tens of millions of people infected with animal retroviruses because of a contaminated blood supply and contaminated vaccines. Leading this genocide was Tony Fauci, who for decades has consistently ignored the evidence of human retroviruses other than HIV contributing to AIDS.
Ruscetti considers this opinion unsubstantiated and over-strong. While I agree with Mikovits’s evaluation of the nature and severity of the crime, her dubious certainty about the murderous objective reflects a tendency to personalize conflicts.
The worst nightmares of the vax skeptics seem to be playing out just as they warned us. The corrupt gatekeepers of science have already shut down inquiry into unsafe vaccines, the compliant media have censored dissidents, and the global elites are waging a larger war against humanity. Perhaps someday we shall sort it all out, if we survive the weaponized virus, the killer “vaccine,” the medical totalitarianism, and the economic collapse and shortages that are likely to follow.
In the meantime, if you can tolerate its flaws, Ending Plague offers some insights into the complexities of virology/immunology and into the perversities of the medical-research bureaucracy.
