Last week, the Southern Poverty Law Center retailed another smear using its classic tactic: attach the “hate group” label to a conservative Christian group, then claim others tolerate “hate” if they refuse to to disassociate themselves from the “hate group.”

This one came from Heidi Beirich, chief propagandist of the group’s smear publishing arm. Here is what Madame Beirich wrote:

Last week, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) faxed and sent letters to every member of the Republican National Committee (RNC) regarding an upcoming trip to Jerusalem being organized by RNC Chair Reince Priebus.

The letters expressed concern about the organization paying for the trip, the American Family Association (AFA), which the SPLC has listed as an anti-LGBT hate group since 2010.

In particular, the letters asked RNC members not to lend their good offices to an organization with a long track record of making anti-LGBT, anti-Muslim and other hateful statements. An email to Priebus’ director of communications about this matter was not responded to.

Here’s the rundown: SPLC says AFA is a hate group. SPLC calls RNC members who are traveling on AFA trip. Refusing to answer SPLC means RNC sympathizes with “hate.”

And why is AFA a hate group? Because SPLC says so.

No one much cares about SPLC’s “hate” convictions. The group is a joke with much of the left. Problem is, the mainstream media still take its lies seriously. That is why those lies are so toxic.

Don’t forget what happened to the Family Research Council.
