Tuning in last night, one could be forgiven for thinking the United States (or at least Miami) was no longer functionally an English-speaking land. Taking place under a backdrop proclaiming El Debate Demócrata, the exchange pretty much dispelled any lingering doubt that the Democrats are in any sense a party serving the interests of a united American nation, regardless of our various ethnic, racial, or cultural roots. Engaging in a two hour long exercise in what even one of the moderators called “hispandering,” Hillary and Bernie made it clear their policies would be directed specifically toward the needs, wants, and demands of Latinos qua Latinos, not to Americans as a whole. What’s next, specialized debates for African-Americans, Asian-Americans, the LGBTLSMFT “community,” the “differently-abled,” Muslims, Rastafarians, vegans, whoever?

To note this does not excuse the Republicans (Trump conditionally excepted), but it does show that the Democrats don’t even seem to care that non-Latino Americans watching last night would start to feel they are aliens in their (formerly, our) own country. At least in the Democrats’ projections to TV-land, we are well on our way to the replacement America called for by Illinois Congressman Luis Gutiérrez: a “new American political coalition,” a self-selected ruling class that posits its interests and values against those of the historic Christian (mainly Protestant), English-speaking American nation, which will be consigned to the status of a permanent disenfranchised, vilified minority:

“ . . . a million Latinos turn 18 every year in the United States of America. And . . .  they’re all American citizens of the United States. And here’s what happens: they become the basis of the new American political coalition. That is young people, that is Latinos, that is immigrants, it’s African Americans, it’s Asians, it’s gay people, it’s people that care about the economy [translation: “Gimme free stuff”], and it’s people that care about the environment [translation: carbon cultists]. . . .  look: you’re never going to take the White House with this kind of politics ever again because there’s a new American politics.”

In a word, it’s Balkanization, a coalition of vested group entitlements, spearheaded by recent immigrants and their “anchor baby” descendants who reject assimilation to a common American identity and in fact define themselves in opposition to it.

Even more importantly, as far as I have heard so far no pundit noted what should have been the blaring headline from the debate: “Democratic Candidates Vow to Break Presidential Oath of Office.” On taking office, the President swears that he (or she) “shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed. . . . ” (Art. II, Sec. 3) Exceeding even Barack Obama’s malfeasance on “Dreamers,” Hillary and Bernie both insisted they would not honor their Constitutional duties with regard to deporting aliens, whether children or adults, who don’t have criminal records. That in itself should bar them from the office they seek. (You take for what it’s worth whether these two supporters of “Sanctuary Cities” would deport criminal aliens, either.) Neither left any doubt that their “constituency” is not the historic American nation but the Guatemalan woman in the audience asking for help in getting her deported husband back into the country, Constitution or no Constitution.
