Elkins sounds like a typical liberal. If the facts don’t fit your assumptions and arguments, then either ignore them or else create your own.

The current reality is the drawing closer together, in formal partnership, of the Five Homelands of The English-speaking Tribe (Britain, Canada, The States, Australia, NZ) in a rapidly deglobalizing, multi-polar World. We are the Main Engine Room of this grouping, and Mexico is already well and thoroughly integrated into its operation, while Japan has committed to it, and signed on for the ride. Liberal scolds of the English-speaking Tribe (or any other Tribe for that matter) are an irrelevancy not worth the attention. We have a life to carve out in this new World Disorder, which appears a lot like the traditional condition of the World before the freakish Postwar/Cold War/globalized era that is rapidly passing away; flawed, in disarray, contentious, elbows flying to protect ones “Place In The Sun”, IOW situation normal. This is my interpretation of Peter Zeihan’s geopolitical forecast for what’s unfolding before our eyes.

Isn’t it clear that one group of people shouldn’t force their way into a another nation and claim ownership of land, resources, and sovereignty? That doesn’t mean that the British Empire was the worst thing in existence. It doesn’t mean that the natives weren’t engaged in immoral or uncivilized behavior.

But shouldn’t it have been better to initiate strictly economic relationships with native leaders? Maybe that wasn’t possible. But it is hard for me to support imperial expansion.
